Dear members,

We cordially invite you to a unique activity organised by KIVI Hydraulic Engineering. On Thursday 20 February, we will visit the drained Julianakanaal canal, a special project currently being implemented by Rijkswaterstaat & van de Herik

Programme:

10:00 - 11:00: Presentation on the project with Limburg Flan!

11:00 - 12:30: Covered wagon trip along the Julianakanaal

A maximum of 23 places are available.

For the covered wagon trip, PPE (safety shoes, helmet and safety jacket/coat) is mandatory!

About the project: The Juliana Canal, a major shipping route in Limburg, is currently being widened and deepened to accommodate larger ships. This project involves draining the canal between Berg Bridge and Born Lock, an approach rarely used. The work is aimed at improving the navigability and safety of the Meuse route, which is crucial for goods transport to ports in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.

During our visit, you will have the chance to learn more about the technical aspects of this project, the challenges that have been overcome, and the innovative solutions that have been applied. The covered wagon ride offers a unique opportunity to see the drained canal up close and gain insight into the scope and complexity of the work.

Accessible only to KIVI members, students are welcome and may register by sending an email to paul.sinnema@rhdhv.com.

We hope to welcome you to this special activity. Register quickly, as the number of places is limited!
