Dear members,

Curious about how the Eastern Scheldt storm surge barrier is being prepared for the future? On 12 March, we will visit Deltares, where scale model tests are currently being carried out for the Eastern Scheldt storm surge barrier on behalf of the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management.

Programme:

14:00 - 14:15 Reception/walk-in

14:15 - 15:00: Presentation on the project

15:00 - 16:30 Visit to the Delta Basin

16:30 - 17:30 Closure and drinks

About the project: Deltares is carrying out scale model tests at 1:40 scale to measure the hydrodynamic forces of waves and currents on the Oosterschelde storm surge barrier gates. These measurements provide crucial information for optimising ongoing and planned maintenance works and take into account sea level rise for longer-term aspects. During our visit, you will have the chance to learn more about the technical aspects of this project, the challenges that have been overcome, and the innovative solutions that have been applied. The visit to the Delta Basin provides a unique opportunity to see the scale model tests up close and gain insight into the scope and complexity of the work.

We hope to welcome you to this activity. Register soon, as places are limited!

Participation is free for KIVI members and costs 45 Euro for non-members.
