Description

The Kick Off lecture is being organised by Van Rossum B.V. as a prelude to the symposium 'When green takes over' on 11 October next.

The Kick Off lecture will cover various interpretations of sustainability, such as structural sustainability and user sustainability, with the help of all kinds of buildings.

Nowadays, there are a lot of vacant office buildings that can still serve another purpose perfectly well. Renovation involves replacing, removing or even installing new floors, for example. What structural challenges are involved? A good example of this is the renovated Alliander building in Duiven, where, among other things, a completely new roof was installed.

The Edge, the world's most sustainable office building, is an example of user sustainability. This building has been made as energy-efficient as possible, resulting in a BREEAM score of 98.36%. At this building, Van Rossum will explain how this was achieved
