Excursion to the Terneuzen lock complex - exclusively for students
KIVI Construction and Hydraulic Engineering offers students of Civil Engineering the opportunity to broaden their horizons by coming into contact with experienced engineers in the future professional field and also with fellow students from other courses. Contacts in the professional field are very important for a successful career. This excursion to Terneuzen's Deep Sea Lock is an excellent opportunity for that.
The lock complex provides access to the ports of Ghent, Terneuzen and inland navigation to Belgium and France. The New Lock will provide better access and a smoother flow for increasing maritime traffic. The New Lock is similar in size to the locks at IJmuiden and is being carried out by the Sassevaart construction consortium an initiative of the Flemish-Dutch Scheldt Commission.
Curious about the innovative application in this project of lining the construction pit walls with a geocomposite, or curious about the technical challenges? Then sign up for this interesting field trip to this mega-project.
There is room for a maximum of 20 students. Transport has been arranged with a bus from Goes Station, leaving at 13.00 to the construction site and returning to Goes Station afterwards.
The excursion is free for students who are KIVI members (or wish to become members), the own contribution for other students is 5 Euro.
