Webinar: Princess Elizabeth Island
Dear members,
The Princess Elisabeth Island is the world's first energy island. This island off the Belgian North Sea coast acts as an electricity hub: it bundles cables from the wind farms of Belgium's second offshore wind zone to bring the electricity generated there ashore. It will also act as a landing point for interconnectors between Belgium and other European countries.
During the online presence, you will be taken through the design steps, from civil and hydraulic tender design to implementation design. Attention will be paid to which aspects need to be considered when designing and building an offshore island. And how this was handled in the case of this island. The following disciplines will be covered
-physical wave tests, 2D and 3D
-results of morphological studies and the influence of the design on this.
-geotechnical design
-structural design
-hydraulic design
key learning points will also be shared. And attention will be paid to the construction of the caissons.
