Wind loads on structures are given in the Eurocode series in EN 1991-1-4. This standard sheet, together with the National Annex, has been in force since April 2012. This course will cover the backgrounds underlying the calculation rules in EN 1991-1-4. Attention will be paid to the rules in the Dutch National Annex and, if required, those of other countries as well. There is also ample attention for alternative determination methods.
During the course, ample attention is paid to the development of examples, whereby students can also contribute their own cases. After completing this course, students will be able to assess how the wind load rules should be interpreted, where the standards do or do not comply, and what alternatives are available in those cases where the standard does not provide a solution.
