From the beginning of 2024, Marinus Aalberts (chairman), Vyasa Sewberath-Misser (secretary) and Marijn de Rooij (treasurer) will join the board of the KIVI Construction and Hydraulic Engineering Section.

They thus replace Bas Jonkman, Patrick Oosterlo and Anneroos Brussee, respectively. Prof.dr.ir. Bas Jonkman remains involved in the department as a member of the board. The professional department thanks Patrick and Anneroos for their commitment to the board and wishes the new board members success in their new positions!
The KIVI Construction and Hydraulic Engineering Section now has over 1,150 members. The department's mission is to independently develop activities that enable it to follow developments in the field through targeted knowledge transfer. The department considers it its task to improve the image of the discipline of civil engineering and its practitioners. In addition, the social element is obviously of great importance.
There is active construction in the Netherlands. The department aims not only to keep you informed of the most important developments, but also to involve you in them. Excursions and informal meetings provide opportunities to learn about new developments and to meet colleagues and benefit from their experiences. Where appropriate, these activities are also organised with other KIVI departments and circles or other affiliated organisations. The annual Water Construction Day is a good example of this.
The KIVI Department of Building and Hydraulic Engineering deals with, among others:
- river and coastal hydraulic engineering;
- dry and wet hydraulic engineering
- hydraulic structures;
- dykes-bridges-dams-locks.
