Description

High-tech in international space

Based in Heerle (West Brabant), Bradford Engineering BV is a Dutch developer and manufacturer of high-tech subsystems and components for satellites and spacecraft. Several products rank 1 and 2 internationally , top positions relative to competitors including:
- Chemical Propulsion Components: including. pressure sensors and valves for various applications
- Propulsion Systems: subsystems for cold gas propulsion or the regulation of xenon gas to electric ion engines
- Sun Sensors: solar sensors for determining the position (attitude) of the satellite relative to the Sun
- Reaction Wheel Units: reaction wheels for rotational torque control that allow the desired attitude of a satellite to be controlled and adjusted
- Avionics, Thermal & Instruments: in addition to supporting the ongoing glovebox programmes on board the ISS, various cabin fans, heat exchangers and avionics

Bradford was established as an SME in 1984 as a supplier of components for the nuclear power sector. In the late 1980s, the company successfully made the transition to the aerospace industry. Bradford has since made international fame with its Glovebox products, which enabled astronauts in space shuttle or space station to conduct scientific experiments in a controlled and safe manner.
Now that the ISS ( International Space Station)
is fully operational, the focus has shifted to products and subsystems for unmanned space flight. Many of these navigation and communication products are supplied in larger series for standardised satellite designs Bradford's customers include institutes, governments (including NASA and ESA) and commercial parties (Airbus Defence & Space, Thales and OHB).
