"Man, Worry Not We'll Listen to Your Objection...!"
- Do you sometimes feel that when it comes to making agreements, there is always a loser? That you have to 'fight' to be heard.
- Would you like to make agreements that everyone can get behind, even if there are different interests involved?
- Would you like others to stick to agreements better?
- Would you like to learn how to make decisions in a pleasant way, to which all those involved feel committed?
Then join the Consent Game! The Consent Game was specially developed to playfully learn how to work with the Sociocratic Method. This is a method for making decisions based on equality: consent decision-making. Not to be confused with consensus.
The advantage of consensus decision-making is that your decisions are of higher quality and there is more commitment and support.
With consent decision-making, you prevent people from feeling denied and therefore not wanting to share responsibility for the decisions. Sociocratic decision-making ensures involvement, an open atmosphere and generates the creativity needed to align different interests.
Playing the Consent Game gives you the opportunity to experience equal decision-making for yourself. You learn what you can do when there are many different opinions, visions and ideas on a given topic - how to still do justice to everyone. So that you can avoid annoyance between people.
FOR WHO
Playing the Consent Game is for anyone who
- works or lives with others: with family members, colleagues at work, at associations and networks and/or with neighbours and community members;
- is looking for ways to shape cooperation and living together in a pleasant way - so that differences do not result in conflict but rather lead to better decisions;
- is interested in what the Sociocratic Method can offer;
- knows the sociocratic way of deciding in theory and also wants to experience it in practice;
- already knows the Sociocratic Method but would like to invite others to get acquainted with it.
WHERE AND WHEN
The consent game will be played on 11 June 2008 from 19.00 to 22.00 at Hotel Van der Valk in Breukelen. Coffee and tea will be provided. Dinner beforehand in the restaurant.
GUIDANCE
The game will be introduced by Pieter van der Meché, business economist and an experienced sociocratic training expert of the Sociocratic Centre. Since 1978, the Sociocratic Centre has been guiding individuals and organisations who want to work sociocratically. Meanwhile, several organisations at home and abroad work with the Sociocratic Circle Organisation Method.
The game is supervised by Ad Oomen, Board member of KIVI NIRA Department of Business Administration.
