Description

Emerson is a global player in the field of valves and other supplies for Oil and Gas, Water Utilities and Power Plants, among others.

When choosing a production location, Emerson is guided by cost, logistics and inventory management. Practice has shown that production location is not always determined by labour costs alone. Emerson has pulled back some of its production from low-wage countries for strategic and economic reasons.

During the field trip, Emerson's management will explain these policy considerations and what is involved in "Re-Shoring". A tour inside the company will further explain the organisational and logistical complexities.
