Waterblock BV, based in Zundert, founded in early 1999 by Jac van Ham, specialises in innovative design & construct projects in the field of urban and regional water management for municipalities, water boards, project developers, road construction companies, ir agencies, etc.
For example, at the request of clients, the Watershell® system was developed for water buffering and infiltration, roof gardens, embankments, root bridges and tree growth areas.
Technology and applications
The highly concrete-, reinforcement- and cost-saving Watershell system consists of a concrete container, in which coupled dome-shaped plastic cassettes (recycled) are placed (acting as lost shuttering) on which a concrete floor is poured, dimensioned to any desired traffic class.
The water storage and infiltration basements (average capacity 200 to 6,000 m3) are applied under car parks, plazas, roads and green areas. The tree (growth) friendly Watershell root bridge under road pavements (clinkers, tiles and asphalt) prevents (traffic unsafe) road surface damage due to root growth and pressure.
