WEMO develops, builds and installs special machines for punching, bending and machining both sheet metal and coil material (sheet on roll). WEMO machines are sold worldwide with the help of an agent network. The machines are used in various industries, including white goods, lighting, steel furniture, construction, electrical, automotive, etc. Customers include e.g. Rittal (electrical cabinets), GE (fridge doors) and Otis (lift doors). The company was founded in 1964 and is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2014.

What makes WEMO so special?
The success of the German economy during the crisis has raised awareness in the Netherlands of the importance of having manufacturing industry again. Much manufacturing industry has been lost in recent years due to competition from Eastern Europe and the Far East (the PRC) or has emigrated there. In that context, it is nice to discover that the Netherlands still has very high-quality machine builders.
WEMO is fully active all over the world with the installation of its machines. Managing director Peter Coremans will be happy to tell you how WEMO has managed to acquire and maintain this position. What policy adjustments are currently being made, such as the transition from engineering-to-order to configuration-to-order. And how WEMO now wants to capitalise better on its respectable installed base of some 450 production lines with a lifecycle support programme.

A visit to the assembly department is a surprising feast for the eyes and ears. The very orderly, clean assembly process of custom-built production lines looks sleek and neat. It exudes great dedication from employees and managers. With any luck, we will witness how WEMO tests an assembled machine in house before shipping to the customer
