Bill of Pricing
Description
In practice, the difference between sales price and costs often looks worse than budgeted. And no, the problem is not in the calculation. The price is fixed, costs creep up and the margin melts away. What do the people in Purchasing, Production, Customer Services, Finance and other departments actually do about it? Who ensures that the budgeted margin is actually realised? Too low margins put upward pressure on sales prices, with all the risks this entails.
The Bill of Pricing is a concept born out of practice that puts your organisation on edge and helps secure effective cost behaviour. Thinking according to the classic Porter Value Chain gets in the way of high results. High time for Value Chain Revisited
