On Monday evening 13 April, Henri Horden of Vicre gave an inspiring workshop entitled "How to manage your boss". This topic was chosen in response to suggestions indicated on the survey form of previous workshops of the Commercial Engineering Department.

The location for this workshop was once again the Black Box on the TU/e campus. After the reception and coffee, Henri started his interactive workshop and, for those who know him, he was almost unstoppable. Without PowerPoint and using only the flipchart, Henri managed to captivate everyone. Personal situations of participants were also addressed, and Henri also makes you think. The comparison with the emperor/gladiators and "the boss" was also drawn. Even though it is not always nice to realise, your boss decides whether you are judged positively or negatively. Nowadays, thumbs up does not mean a death sentence but it does determine the progress of your career. Therefore, it is good to know what your boss is judged on so that you can respond accordingly; who is the boss's boss is therefore an important question.

In short, it was a fascinating workshop which ended with a few drinks and networking at the bar of the venue "the Black Box".

The board of the Commercial Engineering Department thanks the participants for attending the workshop and, of course, Henri Horden for enthusiastically hosting the workshop.

Description

Introduction
How do you manage your boss? Do you see your boss as an obstacle to achieving your ambitions, or as someone who helps you achieve them?

Every day, we notice how difficult it sometimes is when the contact with your manager is not going well, or when you feel that you can get more out of it. And how should we view a manager, as someone who slows things down or as an obstacle, or is he in fact the most important link to get things done, to be able to move forward?

In this workshop, we look in depth at this collaboration and provide tools to get the most out of it.
