Between Murphy and Moore: why people come first.

The more technology can do, the more can go wrong. Standing between Moore’s Law—which dictates that technological capabilities expand every year—and Murphy’s Law—which states that anything that can go wrong, eventually will—is the human element. In this "Enterprise Engineering: Between Murphy and Moore" event, we explore why people are central to the balance between human and machine, and what this means for the design of organizations and their services.

This time, we are hosted by Exonet in Zevenaar. As a managed hosting provider, technology is in Exonet’s DNA, yet they distinguish themselves through their focus on people.

In this session, we highlight various perspectives:

Speakers

Jesper Weiland, co-owner of Exonet, shares his company’s story and discusses the balance between people and technology. Exonet has long focused on managed hosting and, throughout its extensive history, has witnessed—and personally navigated—virtually every shift in the sector. Yet, Exonet remains committed to core principles regarding the harmonious integration of people and technology to deliver outstanding service. It is precisely this approach that sets Exonet apart from the rest.

Hans Mulder, Professor of Enterprise Engineering, explores Murphy’s Law and Moore’s Law. Technological capabilities are constantly expanding, but with greater capability comes a greater risk of things going wrong. Hans explains why the balance between human and machine is becoming increasingly critical and how organizations can restore this balance—focusing on the human role and how technology can empower people.

The food truck arrives at 6:00 PM; you can enjoy a meal and a drink until 8:00 PM. Up for some competition? Head to the game room to face off against others in games like Mario Kart and air hockey.
