Autonomous Robots in the workplace and the future with AI
Staff shortages and stagnating labour productivity: is robotics and AI the solution to this? There is great potential, but also concern: how do we ensure that the lightning-fast technological developments are managed, not only for more efficiency but for a humane and just future of work? MEP Kim van Sparrentak and professor of human-robot interaction David Abbink are both championing this.
Abbink leads FRAIM, a consortium of scientists (technical, design, and social) and innovators to shape the future of physical work, with and for professionals - for baggage handling and nursing work, among others. Van Sparrentak provides legislation and regulation to create the right framework conditions for innovations, offering an alternative based on European values. On this evening, they will both give a short presentation on the latest developments in technological capabilities, social insights and legislation surrounding robotics and AI in the workplace, and then engage in a conversation with each other and the audience about this important challenge.
In a world on the eve of a technological revolution, where autonomous robots and AI are no longer science fiction but a fast-approaching reality, we face unprecedented challenges. The potential of this technology to improve our lives is enormous, but so are the risks.
This is why KIVI Informatics is organising an evening of expert insights and lively discussions:
- Part 1: Technological Explorations. Prof Dr David Abbink from TU Delft and an expert on human-robot interaction, will lead us through the fascinating world of autonomous robot technology, highlighting the opportunities but also the potential dangers this advancement brings.
- Part 2: To regulate or not to regulate? Next, Kim van Sparrentak, Member of the European Parliament and actively involved in the European AI Act and regulation, will give us insight into how we can use regulation to strike a balance between embracing innovation and protecting our societal values and safety.
Why you should not miss it:
