In cooperation with and thanks to developer MAB Development and contractor Volker Wessels, the board of the Construction Section of KIVI NIRIA invites you to participate in the excursion to the under construction B-Tower and De Calypso, Rotterdam on Wednesday 9 May 2012.
Both projects reflect the New Way of Living in the heart of Rotterdam at medium-high construction level.
The B-Tower also received a lot of attention due to the collapse of a scaffolding section serving the construction for a storey floor. The findings of the safety investigation board will therefore be reviewed during the tour.

The B-Tower
The B-Tower is characterised by a new residential concept. Urban studios means living in an environment designed in detail from a single vision. With innovative products like an iPhone or a Mini, we take it for granted that form and functionality flow organically from a single design. Not (yet) with homes. Multi-award-winning Dutch architect Wiel Arets is changing this. With flats and studios equipped with ready-made cast floors, white walls and a kitchen, bathroom and toilet completely - and in their own style! - furnished.
The building will consist of 20 storeys with a total height of 70 metres. On the ground, first and second floors there will be a branch of The Sting of about 4,000 m2.
Above that, there will be two layers with parking spaces. Then above that will be 15 layers for residential units, in which 54 owner-occupied units and 24 rental units will be built. The project is located on Van Oldenbarnevelt Place. The studios (for sale) have a surface area of 45 m² to 75 m² and the rental flats of 90 m² to 120 m².
The B-Tower is being realised by J.P. van Eesteren B.V. and will be completed in mid-2012.

The Calypso
Right in the centre of Rotterdam, on the corner of Mauritsweg and Schouwburgplein, a unique residential concept Calypso, city flats new style, is rising. Where previously the Pauluskerk, the Holiday Inn Hotel and the Calypso cinema dominated the street scene, an ultramodern apartment building with international allure now appears. The façade is all glass and aluminium with a literally dazzling appearance as if it were a faceted diamond. Calypso is more than just residential, it will also offer shopping, relaxation and meetings.
The Calypso project consists of 407 rental and owner-occupied flats, around 500 covered parking spaces and some 6,500 m² of commercial space. The flats will be built in great diversity. The living areas range from around 60 m² to around 150 m². In addition, 5 penthouses will be built with surface areas ranging from about 150 to about 250 m². The design is by the renowned English architect William Alsop.

Currently, VolkerWessels is in the process of finishing. The aim is to deliver the complex functionally in phases during autumn 2012
