The Modernist Tour
The Modernist was designed by MVRDV in collaboration with IMd Consulting Engineers for the Maarsen Group and is being built by Stebru. The project comprises two towers, measuring 123 and 70 metres (429 flats), set on a base (‘the Frame’) containing approximately 15,000 m² of office space and amenities at ground level. All this is situated on a single-storey basement, which also connects to the existing basement of the Kruisplein car park. A distinctive feature of the towers are the recesses in the tower walls, which provide daylight onto the Kruisplein and present a structural challenge. Furthermore, large cantilevers have been incorporated into ‘the Frame’, which have presented the necessary technical challenges. ‘The Frame’ is now complete and the towers are under construction – would you like to see the current progress up close? Please note that you must register separately for the lunch lecture and the site visit.
