On 6 November, we had an excursion with KIVI bouw to the education location Laan op Zuid.

The education location Laan op Zuid was designed by cepezed i.c.w. IMd consultative engineers for two schools to be built on top of each other.The building is mainly composed of a steel skeleton with hollow-core slabs with a hybrid steel-concrete core for stability. The schools are stacked in a compact building with clear routing. This routing is reinforced by a central staggered atrium that visually connects the schools. The corners are open and provided with gardens, while the roofs provide space for sports and leisure.

On 6 November, the main load-bearing structure is expected to be almost at height and façade and finishing work has already started. Before visiting the site, a presentation will be given at the IMd office by both the architect and the structural engineer of this project.

  • 14:50 collect in front of gate construction site
  • 15:00 guided tour in 3 groups
  • 16:00 wrap up at construction site, on your own you can finish in the area around the construction site (Wilhelminapier and Katendrecht are around the corner)

  • bring (OV) bike
  • Laan op zuid is accessible by car , parking spaces are minimal. advice is therefore to cycle from Piekstraat.
