Description

The Ship Handling Simulator (SHS) comprises a 360-degree 'good visibility' bridge simulator, four 'limited visibility' bridge simulators and the necessary instructor and debriefing rooms. The realistic images and functionalities present contribute to an optimal training experience for students. By connecting the simulator's various bridges, even fleet navigation can be practised.

The navy uses the simulator for education and training of students from the Royal Netherlands Naval Institute (KIM), the Defence Sailing School and the Dutch-Belgian Operational School.

A new building was specially designed and realised for the SHS, which was christened 'ATLANTIS' during the opening ceremony on Friday 4 July 2014.

During the visit, attention will be paid to the use, technology and realisation of this project.
