On 12 March 2025, Defence wrote a letter to the House of Representatives on Funding bottlenecks in the defence industry. The Working Group on Politics and Defence Technology offered a number of comments and suggested questions on this to the Standing Committee on Defence in the Lower House.
Unfortunately, the working group has to note that the policy proposals and plans in this letter are very similar to the "Production and Supply Security Action Agenda" of 24 June 2024. According to our working group members and other sources, little tangible and noticeable progress seems to have been made since that letter regarding funding bottlenecks, while a lot of work is being done within the Ministry of Defence with great passion and commitment.
Our conclusion is that several pension funds and insurers do want to invest, but that this is not possible without solving a number of bottlenecks and proper consultation on an individual project basis. Or only at much worse conditions for Defence.
