Policy study on increased efficiency through international cooperation and integrated contracts in Defence weapon systems

Since 1990, a declining trend in defence spending has been observed both in the Netherlands and in Europe. At the same time, the Dutch armed forces also want to be prepared for diffuse threats and risks in the future, be affordable in the long term and cooperate. In this light, this interdepartmental policy study has been conducted to contribute to the optimisation of efficiency and effectiveness of budgetary resources, especially through increased international cooperation and integrated contacts. In short, the aim of this IBO is to investigate whether there are opportunities to get more 'bang for the buck', militarily and/or financially, for the approximately €30 billion the Ministry of Defence will spend on weapon systems over the next 15 years.
