Invitation NPT mini-symposium KNCV Spring Congress and Annual Meeting 2009

On 16 April next, during the KNVC Spring Meeting, NPT Process Technology is organising a mini-symposium on the role of process technology in the innovation process of companies. You are cordially invited to this.

Following the symposium, NPT will hold its annual members' meeting on 16 April next. Besides the usual explanation of policies and finances, NPT would like to use this moment to have a discussion with its members about the course of events and future directions of NPT. You are also more than cordially invited to attend the annual meeting. The annual secretarial report can be found on our website www.npt.nl.

Minisymposium "How to cash your innovation power. The enabling role of process technology"

Innovation is an important factor for many companies in 2009 to win the competitive battle. Particularly for Western industries, innovation is often seen as a key factor to stay ahead in competition with emerging industrial countries, such as China and India. Many companies therefore invest substantially in their R&D departments to search for innovative products and services. When it comes to new technological developments and opportunities, process technology seems to have taken a back seat. However, for new product ideas and technologies to be widely applied and actually marketed, process technology is a crucial factor. In many cases, already existing solutions will not suffice.

During the KNCV spring symposium, we as NPT want to explore the question of the state of process technology when it comes to introducing new product concepts. During this symposium, concrete experiences from different markets, such as food (development of cappuccino foamer by FrieslandCampina Kievit) and super strong fibres (development of Twaron by Teijin Aramid), will be discussed. In addition, a more general approach to where and how to include process technology in the company's innovation process is given by 3M. A generic overview of the state of innovation within the Netherlands as a whole will be presented by DSTI.
