Cancelled: why innovation?
Description
Industrial innovation
Dutch industry is not only indispensable for the (knowledge) economy, but also for solutions to societal scarcity issues in areas such as energy, safety, care and mobility. This requires technological innovation in the production chain, innovation of products and processes in industry. All companies are affected by this.
Industry is important for our future and is the driving force behind employment and prosperity.
Industry can continue to flourish in Europe because of our innovative capacity.
TNO contributes to this innovative capacity by, on the one hand, offering applied knowledge to industry and, on the other hand, putting topics on the agenda for and with industry in order to arrive at choices that can generate sufficient mass in a topic so that we can continue to compete internationally.
TNO - Mission and strategy
TNO connects people and knowledge to create innovations that sustainably strengthen the competitiveness of companies and the well-being of society.
TNO is an independent research organisation whose expertise and research make an important contribution to the competitiveness of companies and organisations, to the economy and to the quality of society as a whole. Due to its versatility and capacity to integrate this knowledge, TNO occupies a unique position.
Goal-oriented innovation, that is what TNO stands for. We develop knowledge not for its own sake, but for its practical application. To create new products that make life more pleasant and valuable, and that help companies innovate. To find creative answers to the questions posed by society.
TNO is keen to share its knowledge and vision of Innovation and its importance for our future with people at the heart of society and business. People who probably play or will play a decisive role in the development towards the future of Dutch and European industry and for whom Innovation is an important part of their corporate philosophy.
Presentation
The presentation is interesting and promising and is entitled: "Why innovation, what's in it for you".
Knowledge must also be used more intensively in the industry that already exists. For the industry to be uniquely positioned. This requires that innovation efforts are focused in key areas and that the societal innovation agenda is widely supported. National and European market opportunities can be better used for innovation, for instance by using the Dutch market as a testing ground for innovations. New cluster policy and SME policy should reinforce each other. Knowledge workers of the future opt for lifelong learning and must be given more opportunities to do so. On these points in particular, TNO wants to support industry and government in the coming strategy period. Through technological innovations and by bringing stakeholders from different industries together. The social transition to solar energy, for instance, requires not only cheaper, more efficient solar cells, but also building innovations by architects and smart meters to deliver energy back to the grid.
