ElaadNL: Webtalk #44 Smart and local algorithms crucial in scaling up charging plazas
Review: Webtalk: Algorithms for charging plazas
Increasingly, large numbers of electric cars are being charged in a concentrated area.
Especially in large charging plazas, such as at office buildings, we are getting 'hotspots' that offer not only challenges but also, on the contrary, lots of opportunities for power grid management.
For this, however, it is important that energy management systems can efficiently control hundreds of cars in one place in a scalable way.
Some of the challenges here are prioritising cars correctly, taking infrastructure into account and being able to respond quickly to fluctuations in electric power generation from solar panels.
Speaker:
In this web talk, Gerwin Hoogsteen from the University of Twente shows what is possible with smart, local, algorithms.
