Description

The 6th EMC seminar takes a closer look at the application of the design guideline and installation rules, as well as typicals per installation type or system to maintain reliable ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (mutual influence).

Based on the 2009 EMC design guideline, the EMC management plan for the Terminal complex has been implemented. EM zones have been established for the 15,000 rooms of the Terminal and EMC measurements are carried out continuously for verification. The measurement results confirm that minimum EMC requirements should be imposed on electrical and electronic equipment, systems and power supply systems to be robust for operation. This distinguishes between residential- light industrial- and heavy industrial environments. The choice of ICT network cabling and installation technology also plays a major role.
During this EMC seminar, AAS' EMC regulations are presented and their application in daily practice is discussed. This will be illustrated on the basis of EMC improvement measures realised in 2010-2011 in two existing ICT technical rooms.
In short, the active management of EMC in the various areas and rooms is possible, provided the EMC specifications are met during the construction of installations and systems. In addition, active management of functional frequency bands is needed to ensure the operation of radio systems and wireless ICT networks. The seminar will conclude with a presentation on Mobile (Private) Networks and DAS systems anno 2011.

Within the Terminal Complex at Schiphol Airport, there is a large number of technical installations and systems. These installations and systems include sensitive electronic equipment for information processing, telecommunications (data and voice) and detection of persons and baggage, The undisturbed operation of the assembly of these devices and systems within the limited space of the Terminal Complex requires careful planning of EMC emission and immunity, or Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
