New Year Meeting Department EL
Description
On Tuesday 12 January 2010, the Electrical Engineering Division will again organise its annual New Year's Meeting. Naturally, there will be a toast to the new year and snacks and drinks will not be lacking. But we also want to combine the useful with the pleasant, which is why we will present two interesting lectures.
The first is about "Technology at home NOW" and will be presented Mr Willem Bastein of OTIB. The second lecture will be delivered by Professor Lou van der Sluis and is entitled: "What's loose in Stromenland". Both lectures are very interesting and very topical.
EXPLANATION ON THE EDUCATION
ABOUT TECHNOLOGY HOME NOW!
Technology at Home Now! is a unique innovation project that, through practice-oriented research, links the needs of older people to live independently at home for longer with reliable technical solutions. In doing so, Technology At Home Now! goes further than other projects. Targeted solutions for targeted problems, geared to enable those in need of care and the elderly to live independently in a very comfortable, familiar and safe manner.
In the four homes, installers, care providers and the elderly can experience the possibilities of technical innovations for care applications in a 'real life environment'. An integrated approach ensures that all relevant technologies come together in the homes. The personal well-being and independence of the elderly is the main focus.
The homes are tested and assessed by the elderly, those in need of care and care providers on user-friendliness, safety and possibilities. With these experiences, future facilities will be fine-tuned and developed even more emphatically for the target group. The project gives an impulse to cooperation and knowledge exchange between the care sector, the housing sector and the installation sector in order to realise a broader application of technical possibilities in the care and housing sector.
THE HOUSES
Technologie Thuis Nu! is realising a mini-residential area in Woerden with four model homes in which the latest technical innovations aimed at independent living have been applied. Each home meets different needs and wishes of those in need of care and the elderly and is furnished with the latest technology. The homes are built in OTIB's training building in Woerden and can be used multifunctionally, as a learning environment for installers, care providers and schools, and as a test bed for testing applications by those in need of care and the elderly
