Description

The Royal Institute of Engineers Region Gelderland and the University of Applied Sciences Arnhem and Nijmegen are organising a seminar on 18 April 2018 with the theme: HOUSES WITHOUT NATURAL GAS. We will focus on existing houses.

The programme is as follows:

16:30 Reception with coffee/tea
17:00 Opening by the chairman of the day - Guus Pemen [TU Eindhoven]
17:05 [1] What possibilities are there to realise this - Hans van Wolferen
17:40 [2] Heat networks - Wim Mans [www.Innoforte.nl]

18:15 Break with a sandwich meal

19:00 [3] Heat pumps - Erwin Janssen [www.Nathan.nl]
19:35 [4] Reusing the existing gas grid - Ad van Wijk [TU Delft]
20:10 Discussion led by the chairman of the day
21:00 Closing with a drink

[1] What possibilities are there: In this lecture, Hans van Wolferen gives an overview of the different possibilities. He will discuss the investment costs and structural modifications. He will also discuss the required capacity of power plants and the electricity grid.

[2] Heat networks: In this lecture, Wim Mans explains the various aspects of heat networks. Which heat source is used, e.g. residual heat from industry or power plants. What is the maximum length of a heat network. What sustainable heat sources are there.

[3] Heat pumps: In this lecture, by Erwin Janssen, the different types of heat pumps will be discussed. He will also discuss adapting the heating system in the home.

[4] Reusing the natural gas grid: In this lecture, Prof. Ad van Wijk will explain why hydrogen will play an important role in a sustainable energy system, how we can make good use of the existing natural gas grid for that purpose via conversion, what markets for hydrogen exist and can develop, and what role hydrogen could play for the heating of homes and buildings
