After a long time of silence from TME, we are pleased to inform you of important and interesting changes. In recent years, KIVI-wide has embarked on a process for restructuring and refinancing the professional departments. For instance, in 2022, the customer journey of young engineers was mapped out along with the departments' role in it. In 2023, departments were asked which of their activities contribute to the KIVI mission 'to support members in their education and professional practice and to promote attention and appreciation in society for technical professions.'

A 2024 positioning was worked out by the KIVI Bureau and discussed in early September with a number of board members of departments including TME.
This gave TME a lot of good energy. With new people on the TME board, we would like to involve you as department members in the discussions.

KIVI proposes measures on which they would like to hear the opinion of the department, such as:

- Activities that are thematically cross-departmental will be organised through the bureau with more than one department. TME plays a major role in this.
- Rather one big, impactful event a year, than six small ones.
- The region connects people locally and departments connect people on content.
- Cross-connections are encouraged.
- All members are allowed to become members of all departments.

TME is happy to take up its role again to organise cross-departmental thematic activities. Issues of our time can no longer be solved by one specialist!

TME therefore seeks the major societal challenges and brings together subject specialists from inside and outside KIVI looking for coherence and different ways of solving them. We promote the importance and appreciation of engineering in society by tackling economic and social issues in interactive meetings where we make concrete what role engineering can play in them. Outcomes will be widely disseminated through other departments and KIVI marketing channels.

A next step is to expand the integral approach and connection to trans-disciplinary cooperation by involving social and economic partners, education and research in such complex transition issues.

TME has identified a number of themes for 2025 that are of great social importance and for which there is sufficient expertise within TME and KIVI as a whole.

We would like to involve you in shaping the annual calendar. Please take 15 minutes and fill in this questionnaire. It includes questions such as: "Which theme do you pick?", "Do you have input?", "Do you have questions" and "Do you participate?"

We trust that with these TME plans we are also laying a solid foundation as a contribution to a future-proof and decisive association. By working on cohesion, connection and integral contribution to Social and Economic challenges from within Technology.

We count on involvement and commitment to make this transition successful.
