The board of KIVI Geotechnical Division cordially invites you to visit the Parallel Boulevard Noordwijk on 6 December 2022 at 1pm. The chance to visit the 6-metre-deep trench formwork!

The meeting will take place at Hotel aan Zee(www.hotelaanzee.nl/) in Noordwijk.

As The Parallel Boulevard is broken up, it is advisable to arrive on time. Parking is available on the Boulevard of Noordwijk.

The redevelopment of the Parallel Boulevard is a project of the Noordwijk municipality, the Rhineland Water Board and Dura Vermeer. In 2014, the Noordwijk municipal council decided, to renew the through traffic route. Also, rising groundwater levels are causing flooding. The concrete dike in the dunes, constructed in 2008, prevents the discharge of groundwater to the sea. Temporary pumps keep the groundwater level under control.

Improving drainage is important for the Parallel Boulevard and its surroundings. With the construction of a new stainless steel drain around 200mm at a depth of about 6 metres, the groundwater level will be brought back to the level before the 'dike-in-dune' construction.
