6th International Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference in Seoul, Korea: call for abstracts for selection free participation max 2 Kivi members.
The Board of the KIVI Geotechnical Engineering Division would like to draw attention to the following international conference:
6th International Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference in Seoul, Korea
From 16 to 17 September 2017, in Seoul, Korea, ahead of the 19th International Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering from 17 to 22 September 2017, the 6th International Geotechnical Engineers Conference will be held for geotechnical engineers younger than 35 years of age. From the Netherlands, up to 2 KIVI members can participate in this for free. Would you like to be selected by the Geotechnical Engineering Department for this event where you can meet geotechnical engineers from all over the world? Then apply NOW. What should you do? Send in a title and summary (abstract) of maximum 250 words about an interesting geotechnical (research) project + your CV and short motivation (max. 150 words) why exactly you should be selected by 26 June. The abstract should be submitted in English, other correspondence may be in Dutch.
Rules of play
The rules of the game if you are selected are as follows:
- KIVI-Geotechniek will pay the travel and conference costs (including the conference from 17 to 22 September); you will have to organise the required time yourself in consultation with your employer.
- The KIVI-Geotechniek board will decide who will be delegated based on the submissions.
- A maximum of 2 persons from the Netherlands (member of KIVI-Geotechniek) not older than 35 years at the time of the congress, will be sent.
- If you are selected, you have to write a full English-language paper; its subject is free, but should reflect own research/project input.
- On your return after the congress, you will be required to produce an A4 report for publication in Geotechniek and/or the KIVI website (in Dutch).
- Non-KIVI members may also apply, but must become KIVI/ department members after selection.
- Application/submission can be made to the KIVI Geotechnical Department through Maarten Profittlich.
- No later than 29 June, the 2 nominees will be notified personally by the KIVI Geotechnical Board
- The abstract should be submitted by the nominees themselves no later than 30 September 2016, this also applies to application/registration itself (from 30 September on the website)
- This is followed (expected) by acceptance and instructions on how to submit the paper (deadline: 31 March 2017).
