The theme of the Geotechnology Day 2019 is "The future of Geo-Engineering". In construction, infra and offshore, rapid developments are taking place in digitalisation, both in the design and execution of our projects. With this, the work of the geotechnical engineer will also change.

More powerful and complex hardware and software make it possible to create dynamic models in which real-time design adjustments are calculated. Large amounts of data are becoming available from projects and public sources. AR and VR applications will also change the work of consultants and implementers in the coming years. Regardless, the automation of design work is increasing. In all these digital developments, what is still the place for the 'engineering judgement' of our geotechnical engineers?

We hereby invite (Young) Professionals from professional practice, education and also graduates to contribute to the Geotechnical Engineering Day by sharing their experiences with the attendees and readers of the Geotechnical Engineering journal.

Interested parties who think they can sketch an interesting picture of the future (utopian or dystopian) for geotechnical engineering, or would like to give a presentation on the application of or research into: new design methods, parametric design, visualisation techniques (AR/VR), monitoring techniques, GIS systems or data mining developments, we hereby cordially invite you to share this with us at the Geotechnical Engineering Day 2019.

Please indicate your participation by sending in the following information by 15 March:
- Name (& Employer)
- Title of article/presentation
- Summary (100-150 words + possibly one illustrative photo)

Submissions can be sent to geotechniek@kivi.nl You will be notified by 31 March at the latest. We would then like to receive the article by 30 June at the latest. Speakers will be chosen from the submissions, the criteria being relevance to the field, innovativeness and connection to the theme. We hope to be able to select a number of Young Professionals again. Details regarding the presentation and article for "Geotechnics" will be announced in due course.
