Between 10 and 12 September 2021, the 7th International Geotechnical Conference for geotechnical engineers under 35 years of age (7iYGEC) will be held in Sydney. From the Netherlands, 2 KIVI members can attend this event free of charge.
Would you like to be selected by the Geotechnical Department for this event where you can meet geotechnicians from all over the world? Then apply NOW!
What you need to do Send in a title and summary (abstract) of maximum 250 words about a geotechnical/geological (research) project + your CV and short motivation (max. 150 words) why exactly you should be selected no later than 23 October 2020. The abstract should be submitted in English, other correspondence may be in Dutch.
Rules of play
The rules of the game if you are selected are as follows:
- KIVI-Geotechniek pays the travel and conference costs (both 7iYGEC and the following main conference); you need to organise the required time yourself in consultation with your employer.
- The KIVI-Geotechniek board decides who will be delegated based on the submissions.
- A maximum of 2 persons from the Netherlands (member of KIVI-Geotechniek) not older than 35 years at the time of the conference will be sent.
- If you are selected, you are required to write a full English-language paper; its subject is free, but must reflect your own research/project input. You will then present the contents of the paper at the congress.
- On your return from the congress, you should write an A4 report for publication in Geotechniek and/or on the KIVI website (in Dutch).
Non-KIVI members may also apply, but must become a member of the department after selection.
Application/submission can be made to the KIVI Geotechnical Section at nssmge@kivi.nl. No later than 9 November 2020, the KIVI Geotechnical Board will inform the 2 nominees personally. This will be followed (expected) by acceptance and instructions on how to submit the paper (deadline: June 2021). More general info can be found at http://icsmge2021.org/7iygec/. We look forward to receiving your submission!
