Summary of lecture
What began with small-scale student journals for a specific group of Delft engineering students grew into well-run periodicals for a broad target group of aspiring engineers in the early twentieth century.
University historian Abel Streefland takes you on a journey through the Delft student magazines and the later university press and shows what great resources these magazines are. They show how (future) engineers in the 20th century were looking for their own voice - sometimes political, sometimes technical, often focused on their own student and university culture, regularly with surprising vistas.

Information about the speaker
Abel Streefland is a historian of science, with a PhD on Jaap Kistemaker and uranium enrichment in the Netherlands, and university historian at TU Delft since 2016. He researches all kinds of facets of TU history.
