NExBTL renewable diesel plant

Excursion to Neste Oil's "NExBTL renewable diesel plant" in Rotterdam.
Neste Oil opened a renewable diesel refinery in the port of Rotterdam last December. This refinery produces premium-quality NExBTL renewable diesel. This diesel is produced by hydrotreating vegetable oil and waste oil; the technology used is owned by Neste Oil. Its chemical composition matches that of ordinary diesel.
According to Neste, however, this diesel exceeds the performance of conventional biodiesel and fossil diesel, and unlike conventional biodiesels, hydrotreated vegetable oils and waste oils meet the most stringent requirements of car manufacturers.
NExBTL renewable diesel has been proven to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from a used engine by more than 50% compared to using fossil diesel. In addition, the fuel helps improve air quality due to lower exhaust emissions.
The refinery was completed on schedule and within budget and is an important step for Neste Oil's cleaner transport strategy.
