Design for Reshoring
Description
'Design for Reshoring' How we as designers are making the change!
After years of offshoring, manufacturing and assembly of industrially manufactured products are increasingly returning to the Netherlands from China. Although hard figures are lacking, insiders say the trend is clearly noticeable and is continuing step by step. Aided by technological opportunities, economic conditions and socio-cultural trends, global relations are on their way to a new balance.
With a track record of over 30 years in the development of products with a high innovative character, Erlynne is responsible for the implementation of new technologies, product and production architecture and concept development at various companies. She stimulates creativity in professionals and reveals the intrinsic innovative capacity that organisations have within them. Through her entrepreneurial spirit combined with broad practical and theoretical experience in mechanical engineering and industrial product design on a global playing field, she has contributed to, or stood at the cradle of, a variety of recognisable products. In addition to her business management, Erlynne has been teaching creativity and personality at the Industrial Design course at the Royal Academy in The Hague since 2005.
After an introduction, we will explore together possible answers to the following questions:
- What developments do we see leading to reshoring?
- To what extent is the dominance of logistics increasing?
- What position do we as B.V. Netherlands occupy?
- How will our contribution as designers change?
- What competences can we develop to this end?
- What added value can we give to our products in the future?
Participation in the lecture is free of charge. Dinner costs € 20 (main course incl. two drinks), payable in cash.
