Description

Service Design in Practice

The programme 'Innovating in Service, Service Design in Practice' concerns a three-year study by Utrecht University of Applied Sciences, TU Delft and ten partners into the application of service design in Dutch business.
Finding your way on platforms, improving boarding and alighting, enhancing hospital hospitality and the most effective design of the future HU square in the Utrecht Science Park (De Uithof). These are some of the projects that service design agencies from the northern Randstad region carried out on services around Utrecht Central Station. The projects were followed by Utrecht University of Applied Sciences and TU Delft to investigate how service design is applied and what it can bring to service providers.

This presentation will review some of these projects. We will also look at the lessons learned, and discuss how these are relevant for industrial designers. Participants will receive the book Service Design, insights from nine practical examples free of charge.

(The following partners are collaborating in this research programme: Taskforce Innovation Region Utrecht, Hogeschool Utrecht, Movares, ProRail, Design Thinkers, Edenspiekermann, Bureau H2O, Scope Design & Strategy, Service Design Network, STBY, TU Delft and 31Volts. The programme was made possible by subsidy under the economic incentive programme 'Pieken in de Delta' of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the municipality of Utrecht and the province of Utrecht)
