Description

Permaculture originated as the design of an edible landscape that is self-sustaining, just like an ecosystem. Meanwhile, the application of permaculture is much broader. During this day, you will be introduced to the basics, history and principles of permaculture. Weather permitting, we will roll up our sleeves at the Fort Farm in the afternoon. Even in bad weather, it will be fun, educational and enriching!

09:00 Walk-in

09:30 - 17:00 Programme with lunch in between

Afterwards you can stay for a chat.

Potluck: please bring something nice for lunch (organic?), so we can share each other's dishes. And possibly something for coffee & tea.

Speaker(s)

Course leader: Fransjan de Waard

Fransjan de Waard is a tropical forestry expert. When he was planting trees against desertification in Andalusia, permaculture came along. It inspired him. He founded De Waard Edible Landscape, and in 1996 his book Gardens of Abundance was published.

Fransjan teaches, organises, activates, writes, edits and translates books on environment, ecology and climate, talks and designs. In 2012, Fransjan received a Green Ribbon in Amsterdam for his efforts in urban agriculture and food democracy.

Guest speaker: Farmer Bos

Paul Bos founded a medium-sized marketing communications
consultancy and was managing partner here for 10 years. In 1998, after a short sabbatical, he switched to his parents' farm, which he took over completely in 2000. There he combines 'the worlds' of farmer and coach/advisor.
