Description

Climate change and everything related to it has been colouring the Dutch newspaper pages for months. In fact, presenting a plan or project without paying attention to climate aspects is no longer possible. For the VVM EIA and Water sections, reason enough to organise a discussion afternoon with EIA and water experts on the relationship of climate issues with, among others, the PKB Room for the River, water plans and drinking water supply. Chairman of the day is dike grave Lambert Verheijen.

On Monday 8 February, the VVM EIA Section, in cooperation with the VVM Water Section, will bring together water and climate experts with their EIA colleagues. First, we will do so in two plenary sessions in which practical examples will be discussed. Subsequently, experiences will be exchanged in short thematic discussions.

Plenary sessions:
1. Climate (change) is an important item in many projects and plans. EIA can help embed it well and in time. The focus here is on the adaptive possibilities; uncertainties are also discussed.
Speaker: Geert Draaijers (EIA Committee)

2. Following the PKB Room for the River, a lot of hard work is currently being done on the planning of some 40 projects. For most of these, EIA is again under discussion. The experiences gained from these projects can help with future projects.
Speaker: Peter Bakker and/or Janneke Lourens (PDR = Programme Directorate Room for the River)
