On Tuesday 13 March, from 13:00 to 17:00, a workshop and tour of the sheet piling tests at Eemdijk (near Spakenburg) will be organised in collaboration with the Project Overstijgende Verkenning Macrostabiliteit (POVM). In this meeting, we will visit the site where the tests are taking place and you will be shown around. In addition, there will be presentations on the programme and plenty of room to discuss the value of the results for you as a dike professional.

You will be taken through the set-up of the trials, the first (monitoring) results up to and including their link to the management of your barriers. The results of this test will be put in perspective with experiences of similar tests in the past (IJkdijk, Dijken op Veen, etc.) The sheet pile test is being conducted on behalf of the POVM in cooperation with Waterschap Vallei en Veluwe, Deltares, Witteveen en Bos, Fugro, Liebregts and Arcelor Mittal.

During this workshop we will organise the presence of experts in the field of full-scale tests, dike monitoring and flood defence management. This will also look at the role of dike monitoring in the life cycle management (inspection, management, testing, strengthening) of flood defences.
