Description

Do you recognise this: you have a good idea, you talk about it with some people, write something down, but in the end little happens with it. Even though you are convinced that your idea is good. For instance, you might have an idea to make a process in your organisation run more efficiently, for instance with a new computer programme. You will probably encounter resistance to this: there is no money for it, the current way is fine, etc.
How do you make sure that this good idea actually becomes a success?

Innovation is also an important issue within water quality management, for example with regard to removing medicines from waste water. Bottlenecks are likely to be laws and regulations, competition and investment costs.

Many young water professionals struggle with this issue. In collaboration with Department of Water Management KIVI NIRIA, Yacht is organising a workshop to give these young water professionals a helping hand. In the workshop, we will explore the possibilities of making your ideas a success. We do this using a case on climate adaptation. The speaker will be Water Architect van Bueren, who won the Zuid-Holland Award last year with the idea "Future adaptive with Water Veins".
In October 2009, Bart van Bueren won the Zuid-Holland Award with his idea "Future adaptive with Water Veins". The idea involves using waterways to provide floating (and therefore flexible) facilities to residential areas threatened by ageing. This idea received a lot of publicity.

Using the case, we will discuss methods to actually get your idea off the ground:
- How should you present your idea?
- Who should you involve?
- What barriers can you expect, and how do you get around them?

The workshop will take place on 27 April at Yacht in Utrecht. Starting at 18.00 with sandwiches and closing at 20.30 with drinks. The workshop is intended for young water professionals aged 20 to 35
