Description

On 29 September 2016, Stichting FloodControl IJkdijk is organising the symposium "The dike takes the floor" at Fort Voordorp, Groenekan (near Utrecht). Chairman of the day Patrick Poelmann will take you on a journey where the results of ten years of research into the behaviour of dikes will be presented and discussed, transferred to managers and advisers and the follow-up shaped. In those ten years, we have increased the understanding of dike behaviour and strength by improving the quality of dike information.

Within FloodControl IJkdijk, dozens of parties have successfully collaborated on applications and innovations for water safety, dike monitoring, dike strengthening and strength and crisis management. Typical projects have been the large failure tests, dike monitoring projects (LiveDijken) carried out with the water boards and Rijkswaterstaat and, of course, the Dike Data Service Centre (DDSC). Valuable knowledge, technology and integrated systems that have been completed and are ready to make the step into practice.

The programme will be interactive and include expert lectures, a look ahead to water management in 2030 and workshops (based on results achieved, focused on practical application) and more! You will see state-of-the-art knowledge of water safety innovations, monitoring and application in practice. How do you apply this in your practice in the coming decades and which innovations or developments are still missing?
