The Circle of Marine Engineers is organising a challenge for young professionals. If you are under 35, you are welcome to join. The challenge is all about giving innovative, fresh solutions to a number of cases defined by experienced people in the profession around water, water safety and sustainability. During the months of April and May, you can work on these with the support of a number of experts in the field. The aim is to capture your solution in a video pitch and upload it to the Kring van zeewerende ingenieurs (https://webinar.engagetv.com/kring/challenge-2018/).
Three challenges can be found on the webinar website, namely:
1. Design a monitoring system for an embankment to measure real time phreatic groundwater level and embankment water level, including sensors, data transport and analysis for:
- Normal conditions
- Storm/high water conditions
2. Design a smartphone app to quantify changes in the beach and dunes with centimetre accuracy.
3. Design a plan to extract energy from dykes and dunes.
Part of the upload should include a feasibility study and cost estimate for realisation. The winning team will be selected on 11 June during a live webinar starting at 20:00. The winners will receive 2 tickets (as things stand) to the circle's meeting in Ystad, Sweden from 23 to 25 September 2018.
Want to participate? Then send an email to kringwebinars@engagetv.com.
