Disposable medical devices
Description
On 9 November 2016, the Biomedical Technology section of KIVI and the professional association Biomedical Technologists in Healthcare will organise a mini-symposium on the theme of disposable medical devices.
In the coming years, the dependence on technology in healthcare will continue to increase, due to, among other things, the complexity of technology itself and its wide application in the chain. In this development, medical devices that are used once are increasingly being used: 'disposables' also called consumables. Disposables often contribute to simplified and safe application, but - due to their large numbers and variety - also introduce new risks.
In the symposium, three speakers will highlight the theme from different angles, after which there will be time for an extensive discussion with the speakers and the other attendees.
Programme:
18:00 Reception and introduction by the chairman of the day
18:15 Assortment management of consumables by Marc Arts, assortment coordinator VieCurie, chairman LNAG
A glimpse into the assortment management of medical devices within hospitals. How is control kept over the great diversity of brands and types used?
18.50 hours What guarantees does a CE certificate offer? by Jan-Paul van Loon
Every medical device must be CE marked. However, one CE marking is not the other. For example, for reusable medical instruments, self-certification is sufficient, while the sterile version needs to be CE certified by a Notified Body. This talk will explain what information a manufacturer must have available and what a hospital can ask for.
19.25 hrs Break
19.50 hrs From Infusion to Confusion? by Rob Hemelaar, Product Manager Medical Disposables at B. Braun Medical B.V.
What developments have taken place in the field of infusion and what requirements are set for both the user and the supplier
