Description

S.V. Paradoks, the study association of the Biomedical Engineering & Technical Medicine programmes at the University of Twente, is organising the symposium 'The Next Step in Movement' on 11 May 2010 in collaboration with KIVI NIRIA Biomedical Engineering.

The symposium will focus on a topic at the intersection of engineering and medicine and will be: 'The Next Step in Movement'. Several lectures will focus on the prevention, diagnosis, therapy and rehabilitation of disorders that cause musculoskeletal dysfunction. The day will lead us to recent technological developments, while also looking at how it works in current practice.

Think about future roles of tissue regeneration in preventing disorders that affect (parts of) the musculoskeletal system, but also the use of new forms of movement diagnostics or an exoskeleton, with the aim of getting the patient back on his or her feet as soon as possible. In the therapeutic area, attention will be paid to, among other things, a recently developed gene therapy for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
