Hopper dredger VOX MÁXIMA + ALV
Description
The VOX MÁXIMA is a special vessel for Dutch shipbuilding. It is the first mega hopper dredger built in the Netherlands and, despite its size, it has only one suction tube. The first mentioned particularity has implications for the approach to logistics during the ship's construction, construction and launching. The latter particularity has implications for the design of the hopper dredger.
The increase in scale also has its consequences for hydrodynamic performance, it turned out. In addition, a large hopper dredger has to (be able to) operate as well in limited space as the smaller ones, so the efforts to achieve a good product were significantly greater.
A lecture on this very interesting vessel will be given in two parts. The first part will contain a general description of the ship and cover its design and construction. The second part will go into a little more detail on the hydrodynamics and launching of the ship
