Visit MARIN's new Seven Oceans Simulator Centre (Option 1)

Report
On Thursday 24 October, the KNVTS and KIVI Martec visited MARIN. Then we delved into the world of the brand new Seven Oceans Simulator centre (SOSc). Read the report here.
With this globally unique research facility, MARIN is contributing to clean, smart and safe shipping and sustainable use of the ocean. Crews can be prepared in the simulator centre for maritime operations that are becoming increasingly complex as container ships grow larger, maritime traffic increases and weather patterns become more unpredictable.
All simulators can be linked together to simulate situations with multiple ships operating under difficult conditions at sea. The new simulators will also be used to research the application of virtual reality techniques and the monitoring of unmanned ships. MARIN can also conduct research into Human Factors in the SOSc: the functioning of the crew in difficult conditions.
MARIN deploys nautical and hydrodynamic research to optimise ships, platforms, wind turbines and ports and works on innovations to achieve sustainable energy, food and raw material extraction at sea.
