Description
The meeting is specifically about ATEX
ATEX stands for the French designation ATmosphères EXplosibles and is used as a synonym for the European directives on explosion hazards under atmospheric conditions
Principles of explosion protection:
Primary - Preventing the formation of an explosive atmosphere by removing or keeping away all flammable substances and/or oxygen
Secondary - Eliminating ignition sources (special enclosures, making intrinsically safe)
Tertiary - In extreme cases, allowing explosions in a controlled way and mitigating the consequences by explosion-proof constructions (e.g. bursting discs, flame arrestors)
In many companies, the presence of flammable substances cannot be prevented, and because people often work in corporate environments, it is often impractical to remove oxygen. The most practical way to prevent explosions is to eliminate the source of ignition
