Always wanted to know how bridges, windmills, houses, sleepers and piles get their strength?

Last 10 September, Nedri Spanstaal in Venlo had opened its doors for a company visit by the KIVI Mechanical Engineering Department.
The 21 participants were welcomed by Erwin Streefland (CEO) with an introduction about Nedri Spanstaal, which was founded in 1925 and will therefore be 100 years young in 2025. With 150 employees and an annual turnover of more than €100 million, Nedri Spanstaal is one of the top prestressing steel producers in Europe.
The participants were informed about what prestressing steel is used for, among other things (bridges, buildings, sleepers, windmills, etc.) and how it is produced, with safety and product quality being important points of attention, as well as a pleasant working environment.
The explanation was followed by an extensive tour during which the various prestressing steel production processes were explained. This was followed by networking while enjoying a sandwich and soup.
It was a more than successful company visit thanks to Nedri Spanstaal.
