This year, the activities of Department of Mechanics are dominated by tribology
Dear Members,
The Mechanics Department's annual theme for 2016 has been announced: "Mechanics & Tribology".
Tribology is a branch of mechanical engineering that deals with the control of lubrication, friction and wear processes. A lot of research is being done in this area by both companies and universities, with examples being improved bearing life, innovative lubricating oils and, very recently, air lubrication in ships.
You can expect a number of tribology-related activities from our department in the coming year, including the symposium planned for the autumn (further information to follow). In addition, we will share relevant news items on our site related to this topic.
